when all about you are losing theirs,

and blaming it on you;

만일, 모든 것을 잃었고

If you can trust yourself -

when all men doubt you, 
But make allowance for their doubting too;

만일, 모두가 너를 의심해도 -

끝까지 너 자신을 신뢰할 수 있다면...!

 

If you can wait -

and not be tired by waiting,

만일 네가, 기다릴 수 있고 -

기다림에 지치지 않을 수 있다면...!

남에게 속더라도, 남을 속이지 않으며 -

미움을 받더라도, 좌절하지 않을 수 있다면...!

너무 잘난 척 하지 않고, 유식한 척 하지 않는다면...!

 

 

If you can dream and not make dreams your master;

If you can think and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with triumph and disaster -
And treat those two imposters just the same;

꿈을 갖되 - 꿈의 노예가 되지 않을 수 있고,

생각을 하되 - 생각이 당신의 목표가 되지 않을 수 있다면...!

성공과 실패를 만나게 되더라도 - 그 둘을 같은 것으로 여길 수 있다면...!

 

 

If you can bear to hear -

the truth you've spoken twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, 
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken, 
And stoop and build them up with wornout tools;

네가 말한 진실들이, 악당들에 의해 왜곡 되더라도 -

그것을 참아낼 수 있다면...!

인생을 바쳐 실행한 일이 무너지더라도 -

낡은 연장을 들고 몸을 굽혀, 다시금 그것을 일으켜 세울 수 있다면...!

 

 

If you can make one heap of all your winnings -
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, 
And lose, and start again at your beginnings -
And never breath a word about your loss;

지금까지 네가 쌓아올린 모든 것을 걸고 -

한번쯤 위험을 감수하고 도전해볼 수 있다면...!

설령 잃더라도, 다시 새출발 할 수 있다면...!

잃은 것에 대해, 결코 탄식하지 않을 수 있다면...!

군중들과 이야기 하더라도 - 당신의 미덕을 지켜낼 수 있다면...!

왕과 함께 거닐면서도 - 붙임성을 잃지 않을 수 있다면...!

적이든 친구든 - 너를 해치지 않게 할 수 있다면...!

모두가 당신을 존경하더라도 - 지나치게 의존하게 않게 할 수 있다면...!
